"Calling To Teach"
My calling to teach happened third year university of my computer science degree when I had the opportunity to teach grade 9/10 science summer prep courses. From the experience I learned that teaching is not an easy task and many hours are required to prepare course materials and markings, but the reward when a student understands a concept is worth every efforts. Motivation Growing up, I moved a lot of schools. In my 6 years of elementary education, I attended 5 different elementary schools, at each new school I would have to adapt to the new environment and make new friends. To a young child, it was a big challenge; however, in the process I've also encountered many wonderful teachers who helped me along my journey. I still remember and thanks Mr.Claw, my grade 3 teacher who first engaged me in learning English through handwriting (even though I can't hand-write for the life of me anymore). It is my time now to pay it forward. I would like to help better integrate students from different cultural backgrounds and immigrants into the greater classroom community and help promote collective diversity. |
